Erica W. Van Wagner, MSW, LISW-CP

Erica W. Van Wagner, LISW-CP is a licensed independent social worker with over 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. She has practiced in a variety of settings including community mental health centers, children advocacy center, group homes, hospitals, and the Department of Social Services. 


Erica received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Winthrop University in 1999. She worked with adults at the community mental health center for a short time before returning to school to pursue her master’s degree at the University of South Carolina. Erica graduated with her Masters of Social Work degree from USC in 2002 and has been providing services with the community mental health center since that time. As a graduate student, Erica began focusing her experiences in working with children and families involved in the child welfare system.


Erica utilizes a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach as her primary mode of treatment. In 2007 she was trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and later completed a year-long learning collaborative through the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Erica’s name appears on the MUSC state roster of clinicians trained in this evidence-based treatment. Erica also completed a supervised learning experience for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and is listed on the PCIT of the Carolina’s roster of clinicians trained in providing this additional evidence-based treatment. Erica has also completed training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).


Erica is a dedicated professional who was drawn to the field of social work based on her desire to help others. She values the importance of family and relationships and hopes to help others through strengthening attachment/bonds with others. She specializes in issues related to abuse/neglect, trauma, foster care/adoption, depression, anxiety, and a variety of other mental health concerns.


Erica was born and raised in the upstate of South Carolina and currently resides in Pickens County with her husband and 7 year old daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, time outdoors, and listening to live music. She is a member of Easley Presbyterian Church where she is involved in the music program as well as volunteers in a variety of roles. She is currently serving in leadership of the Easley Junior Women’s Club.
